If you find yourself in Jagna, Bohol, a coastal town teeming with charm and vibrant culture, make a beeline for Painitan sa Baybay. This delightful café offers a perfect fusion of Filipino delicacies and seaside tranquility. Imagine savoring traditional kakanin—sticky, glutinous rice treats that are deeply rooted in Filipino culture—while the gentle sea breeze cools your sun-kissed skin. The café, conveniently located right by the roadside, provides an idyllic spot to recharge after a morning jog or a long road trip.

The ambiance is simple yet inviting, designed for relaxation and unhurried enjoyment. Guests can relish their refreshments in cozy huts that overlook the ocean, making each bite more enjoyable against the backdrop of the waves. As one satisfied customer, Ms. Charith, fondly shares, “Filipino sweets or meryenda served with a side of sea breeze best enjoyed slowly under a cozy seaside cottage.” It’s this combination of delectable offerings and picturesque scenery that beckons many to return time and time again.

Indulge in their signature drinks and snacks, such as the sikwate (Filipino hot chocolate) paired with puto maya (rice cakes), which evoke nostalgic flavors comforting to the Filipino palate. As Guiller Rongavilla puts it, “You can't go wrong with kakanin and Sikwate for breakfast!!” Whether you're enjoying a quick snack or a hearty breakfast, the tasty offerings promise warmth and satisfaction.

Open as early as 6 AM, Painitan sa Baybay also caters to the early risers looking to kickstart their day with a touch of sweetness. The casual yet vibrant setting makes it a go-to spot for families and groups. Just ask Gem Ranque, who appreciates how the ambiance beautifully complements a quick stopover. “I love the ambiance. Very perfect for a quick stopover right after jogging or say, from a road trip,” they mention, emphasizing how this café has become part of cherished routines for many.

While some areas could benefit from improvement, such as clearer menu visibility and renovations to the huts, the overwhelming reviews highlight an endearing quality: the food speaks for itself. Shinford Lavastida captures the essence perfectly, saying, “It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience of comfort, culture, and community.” Every visit is an invitation to connect with the essence of Filipino culinary heritage.

Whether you're a local or a traveler keen to explore the flavors of the Philippines, Painitan sa Baybay is not just a café—it’s a culinary haven that marries culture with comfort. Don’t miss the chance to engage with a community craving authentic tastes in a setting that feels like a warm embrace from the sea.

Flipino sweets or meryenda (snack) served with a side of sea breeze best enjoyed slowly under a cozy seaside cottage. This charming spot is always a favorite stop for me, my friends, and family.

I love the ambiance. Very perfect for a quick stop-over right after jogging or say, from a roadtrip. They open at 6am or earlier especially during weekends. They have the classic bisaya painit like sikwate (filipino hot chocolate), puto maya (rice cake), and pandesal. They also serve dinumugan (another type of rice cake) depends on the availability. The location is just roadside and you can see the sun rising.

Was looking for a place to have breakfast when I decided to give this place a try. You can't go wrong with kakanin and Sikwate for breakfast!! Super reco especially for families and groups. You can enjoy their food while lounging sa hut across their place. Oerfect for rest stops on road trips.

It's my second time here and still nice since it's early in the morning. It would be better if there's a menu (or maybe there is but we didn't see it). Also, to renovate their payag2 near the beach so that it would be more appealing. Somewhat scary since it's not so sturdy anymore (for me). Overall, the food is awesome.

Enjoy kakanin traditional sticky, glutinous rice delicacies deeply rooted in Filipino culture paired with a freshly brewed cup of sikwate (native hot chocolate). It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience of comfort, culture, and community.

What an excellent experience to really dive into the Filipino culture. Visited with my Grandma and Uncle this morning, as this is where my Grandma is from. Beautiful food and the best hot cocoa!! I would highly recommend visitors to check this place out. Good value for money, too.
